Interested in Environmentally Friendly Power in Lawrence?
The Bowersock Mills & Power Company is a proud supporter of Friends of the Kaw, which is the non-profit organization devoted to the protection of the Kansas River and the Kansas River Watershed. Since 2014, Bowersock has been offering tours in partnership with Friends of the Kaw through a generous grant made by the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund. As we have reached the end of the grant, beginning in January, 2017, Bowersock will be asking for a $40.00 honorarium to Friends of the Kaw for each tour. $32.00 of each honorarium goes towards paying for the tour guide, and the remaining funds go to support Friends of the Kaw. We encourage groups to give as much as they feel they can afford, as extra funds can be used for groups that will find paying a fee an economic hardship or as additional support for Friends of the Kaw. Tour honorariums may be provided via checks made out to Friends of the Kaw, or in cash. We are so pleased to be able to offer tours of Bowersock that can help the community understand the Kansas River Watershed and the myriad ways in which our community depends on this beautiful and valuable resource.
We offer periodic Saturday tours. If you would like to take a tour, please fill out the form below and indicate the number of people in your group and an age level (high school club, scout troop, college class, etc.). Someone from Bowersock will contact you to schedule your tour as soon as possible. We are currently compiling a list of interested tour groups for the spring.
